Event planning basically has two sides – one seems to be pristine and perfect, featuring a smooth-sailing event with happy and satisfied guests while the other side features a team of frazzled organizers and suppliers doing their best to come up with a successful event. Realistically speaking, event planning is actually learning to rise up above the chaos and giving clients the beautiful event that they deserve.
Experienced event planners know all too well the feeling of being in a “do or die” or “make or break” situation. This usually happens when supplier fail to pull through with their commitment or when sudden inconveniences arise during the event itself. During those times of chaos and seemingly apocalyptic-version of event planning, event organizers either learn to rise above the situation or crumble to their business’ demise.
Finding The Event Planning Zen
Facing a “do or die” situation may not be something to laugh about but for seasoned event planners, situations like that made them stronger and braver. In some ways, event planning is not exactly for the weak-hearted. In any kind of event, no matter how tedious the preparations may be, there will always be room for disaster. That is why the role of an event planner is not only to literally plan an event but to be prepared for any possible problems that may arise during the event.
For event planners to find peace amidst the chaos, they need to be prepared physically, mentally and emotionally. It is highly expected for emotions and tension to rise during big events, especially when inconveniences arise. However, when an event planner and his or her team are prepared for such things, the event will turn out to be fine and the guests will hardly ever notice any bumps along the road.
