Deciding to make a DIY event is quite tempting especially with all the available YouTube tutorials and Pinterest pegs out there. The easy step-by-step presentations make it all the more enticing for potential DIY-ers. However, is it still wise to pursue DIY for big events?
On a macroscopic point of view, DIY is only wise and practical for small and intimate events. For example, a baby shower or an engagement party. The guests are expected to be not so many and the preparations, decors and souvenirs can be easily managed as well.
However, for big events like weddings or birthdays, it would be wise to ditch the DIY path and seek the expertise of a professional event planner. That way, there would be less stress on the part of the host and the event would go smoothly and hassle-free.
Of course, there is no right or wrong way to plan for a party. At the end of the day, it is still 100% up to the host whether to go all out DIY or seek the help of a professional event planner. Or it could be a mixture of both – there can be an event planner and the host may still push through with some DIY souvenirs, decors, etc.
There is no exact formula for a successful event planning – only effort and creativity. No matter how big or small an event may be, the option to get an event planner is always considered to be a wise and practical one because it would be like tying all the loose ends of a thread.
It is also expected to lessen the stress of the host, giving him or her more time to enjoy the event rather than worry about whether the decors are in place or if the cupcakes are all set at the receiving area. Being prepared with a team of competent event organizers is definitely a win-win situation.
