6 Corporate Event Photography Ideas That Will Blow Your Mind

June 25, 2018 by Events & Logistics

Back in the day, event pictures took a long time to develop because they were still using film. But as the dawn of the digital age ensued, digital photography became the staple. While some event planners don’t consider this a priority, it doesn’t change the fact that photography is a critical part of documentation not only for the client but also for the event planner.

Important scenes captured on camera are typically used for press releases and other marketing needs. However, corporate events tend to have boring scenes, making traditional photography a big no-no for an event that promotes a brand. This is because consumers use imagery as the main way to determine whether to register to an event or not.

With that said, we have compiled 6 corporate event photography ideas that will blow your mind and make consumers want to sign up.

  1. Creative Angles

The greatest hurdle of any photographer is to come up with images that are interesting. This becomes even more challenging for corporate events as most of the activities can prove to be dull when captured in still images. To overcome this, it is important to experiment with more creative angles. Utilize small items like flowers and decorations by making them into a real-life picture frame. All you need is your camera and an imaginative mind.

  1. Have Fun Even with Posed Shots

Posed shots are common in corporate meetings and conventions for obvious reasons. People attending the affair tend to put all their attention on the VIPs in the room and act stiffly around cameras. Good photographers should be able to overcome this by allowing attendees to loosen up and imploring them to have fun while you’re taking pictures.

  1. Maximize Natural Lighting

Professional photographers can do magic with the technology nowadays, but there is nothing better than a picture captured in a natural environment. To achieve this, experts recommend maximizing the natural lighting available in the premises as artificial light from flashes tend to make the picture inherently feel like a photograph. This can cause viewers to lose interest at the moment you captured as quickly as they gained interest in it. It is also wise to have your subjects slightly angle their body to the side so that they don’t face the camera head-on. This will lessen chances of red-eye anomalies in your images.

  1. Don’t be Afraid of Abstract Shots

Abstract shots tend to provide viewers with a sense that the event is not just about the people who attended it. This particularly useful when the photos you capture will be used for marketing purposes. Experts explained that having people in the images tend to make them the subject as viewers tend to see faces and focus on them. This is quite distracting and won’t be good for marketing.

  1. Work Around Fluorescent Lights

Fluorescent lights tend to be a nightmare for photographers covering corporate events. Since most of these affairs are held indoors, there is a small chance that natural light will be available in the venue. With that said, a good photographer would change his color balance instead of countering the dull lighting by using a flash. It is also a good idea to bounce off the lights on the walls or ceiling to lend the pictures a more natural feel.

  1. Try New Editing Techniques

A photographer’s job doesn’t end when photos are taken. In fact, they are only halfway through it. Because it is an important step in delivering quality corporate event pictures, you can try new techniques in editing your snaps. Some of the techniques that make images more striking are HDR and black-and-white overlays.
