Things Event Organizers Fail to Do After Events

May 3, 2018 by Events & Logistics

The best event idea will not make sense if you have no means to execute it properly. And even if you did and managed to make it successful, have you thought about what else there is to do after?

This is what most event organizers fail to do. Not many realize the importance of post-event work, which is actually one of the most important factors that help build up the brand. If you attract people to your event only to fail them after it, you have yourself a lot of work to do to make sure they remember who you are.

To avoid that, here are the things you shouldn’t forget doing after the event.

Ask Attendees to Take a Survey

Before you even open the champagne bottle to celebrate the success of your event, consider conducting a post-event survey to get an idea what your attendees thought about it. This is the perfect time for other people to evaluate the occasion and welcome ideas to improve your next event. You can do this by sending out an email containing the survey. Remember to be open to feedback so you can work on certain areas and make improvements.

Another way to ask feedback is to interview attendees themselves. Talk to stakeholders to find out if the event lived up to expectations. This will also make them feel important and valued, something that you would want them to feel for the betterment of your company.

Share Follow Up Information Through Post-Event Content

The days following an event are normally reserved for resting and unwinding, but while doing so, create some post-event content when you got the chance. This is the perfect time to blog about the happenings in your event, and also the perfect way to get people talking and contribute their thoughts about it.

A representative of your company or yourself can do a series of Q&A blog posts to also benefit those who wanted to attend the event but had to miss it. You can also ask some volunteers to live blog the event and publish some exclusive scenes later on.

Keep the Hype Going by Releasing Video Content

Surely, you have heard or seen videos of the annual TED Talks conference, right? This conference has become a cultural phenomenon. You can do a mini-version of this and create your own video content by inviting speakers over to hold sessions or discuss certain topics that people may have in mind.

Make sure your video content is available on your website, YouTube, Vimeo, and other sites that host videos. You can also upload your videos on Facebook or utilize Facebook Live. Web marketing experts all agree that posting video content on Facebook is one way of increasing followers. So every time you post a video, expect that you’re enticing new audiences and potential customers other than your already solid following.

Build a Solid Community Online

An online community is a huge proof that your event is successful. As the organizer, see to it that you create online groups for people to join and converse with even after the event has passed. This will be their portal to finding out the latest events and updates from your company and create exclusivity.

For example, you can assign some members of your team to create a Facebook group, invite people to join in, and upload content for members to see. This will encourage everyone else to participate in your online community since only approved members can see what you’re posting. It’s a smart technique to get more people involved.

When your next event comes, it won’t be so hard for you planning it since you’re assured that you already have people following you and you have the feedback to make the right improvements, resulting to more successful events in the future.
